Water Activities To Enjoy During An Eco Adventure

Posted on

A lot of parents enjoy the idea of their children getting away from their TV and computer, out of the house, and into nature. If you have this mindset and are looking for things in which you can enroll your kids, an Eco Adventure may be a good option to think about. Eco Adventures can vary a lot, but they all give children (and adults, too) an opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities in nature — well away from the temptation of TVs and computers. Many Eco Adventures include water-based activities, including these three that your children may enjoy.

Kayaking

Kayaking is a popular water activity that you'll find in many Eco Adventures. If your children don't have any experience with this paddling sport, this can be a good way to get acquainted with it. The kids who participate will get a tutorial on the shore, and then get into their individual kayaks and begin paddling in a group with one or more leaders. When they familiarize themselves with how to control their boat, they'll travel around the water as a group. It can be rewarding for a novice to learn the basics of kayaking, and you may find that your kids are eager to try this activity again.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding

There's also a good chance that stand-up paddleboarding is a water activity that is available through the Eco Adventure in which you enroll your kids. This is another fun way to spend time on the water. Kids will learn the basics, including the different ways to position their bodies on the board. Some children who have good balance will stand, while others will be content to kneel as they paddle. Stand-up paddleboarding is a popular water sport today, and children of any age will be excited to try it.

Swimming

Swimming is arguably the simplest way to enjoy the water, and it's an activity that is available during lots of Eco Adventure experiences. If your kids have only ever gone swimming in pools, they'll be excited for the opportunity to swim in a natural body of water such as a lake or river for the first time. The Eco Adventure venue will likely have a large beach that is conducive to swimming, with a roped-off area that will keep the swimmers contained where the water isn't too deep. Look online for an Eco Adventure program that will appeal to your children.
